September 2021 Diary

Today is Saturday. In two weeks it is going to be the first Saturday in October! First there are still a dozen days in September left.

At the beginning of November Caroline and Matthew may be able to finally visit me again! I have not seen them since the 16th of May, when we were celebrating Peter’s birthday. Four months have passed since then. For twelve weeks we have been now in lockdown. I had some renovations done to my place. These renovations started towards the end of may and were more or less finished by the time the lockdowns started towards the end of June. I am waiting now for Aaron to return to do some more work for me. Maybe some outside work is going to be allowed soon.

I have so many good memories about places that I visited together with Peter. Since Peter died nine months ago, I have been in Benalla, Victoria, with Martin for a two weeks great visit. Martin, my son, lives in Benalla. Since I left Benalla again towards the end of March I have not seen Martin again. I hope now that perhaps he may be able to come to NSW for some Christmas celebration with the family.

It seems it has been a very long time since I have been able to see any of the family! At least I can still see and talk to all my neighbours from a certain distance out in the open areas that surround our villas. There are ten three bedroom villas in our complex. Most are occupied by one person only, some have two residents in it.

I know nearly all the residents by name. On my birthday 27 years ago Peter and I moved into villa number 4 with our daughter Caroline, who was not quite 16 at the time. Soon people moved into number 1, 2, 3 and 5. The other five villas at the front had not been built yet. But about six months later, that at the beginning of 1995, the five villas at the front of the complex were ready for people to move in. All villas except for two or three were right from the start owner occupied. All the owners and investors did change over the years. Peter and I were the only original owners, and since Peter’s death I am now the only original owner.

I said I know nearly all the present residents by name. So, I am on speaking terms with all of them! Since the lockdown I seem to be speaking more and more with some of them, especially with those that have lived here for quite a few years and are retired people.

In Nr. 1 lives my Scrabble friend Irene, who is widowed. In Nr. 2 lives Roberto, who is a divorced bus driver and renting the place. In Nr. 3 live my neighbours Stan and Jenny. I still live in Nr. 4 and am totally on my own since Peter died in December of last year. In Nr. 5 live my neighbours John and Joan. Nr. 6 for some odd reason is the number for the Body Cooperative with no building being there, just a letter box that has never been used. Never mind, near the road at the front of the complex, there are villas Nr. 7 and 8, then there is the entrance drive way to the complex, and next to that entrance are villas Nr. 9, 10 and 11.

Nr, 7 is occupied by Veronica, a single working woman. Nr. 8 is occupied by 93 year old widowed Aileen. In Nr. 9 lives my widowed Scrabble friend Barbara. Nr. 10 has recently been bought by a single working mother, who lives there with her school age daughter. And the last building is Nr. 11: Someone is renting there, but I don’t know anything about this renter who often does not seem to be actually present in the building.
