A very long Walk in the Morning – Meeting Friends in the Afternoon

Early in the morning I received an email from Gerard, telling me that two weeks ago a woman came to visit him, and this is why I did not get any response to my emails for a while. 🙂

I am happy for him, that he has a girlfriend now. A bit of company will be good for him. I hope, the girlfrfiend lives close enough, so that he can see her often, and does not always have to be just by himself when he is at home, and maybe he can visit her too! 🙂

I went this morning all the way to the bakery near the lake. It was a wondedrful walk, and I bought some nice things at the baker’s. I had just returned home, when I did get a phone call. It was my friend Irene, asking me, whether I’d like to come to her place in the afternoon for some games. I thought, it was a great idea, to take up playing Scrabble and Rummy again on a Friday afternoon. I hadn’t done this for some time.

Apart from playing games, I did a lot of talking too with Irene and Erika, who came along too. But Barbara could not come. She is away for two weeks. I am determined, to see my friends more often again from now on. My GP told me too, that I should socialise more. I do not have to restrict myself to see them only on Fridays, I could join them for outings any other time too.

Aaron, the builder who did the deck last year at the back of my house, is very sick with COVID right now. But he is organising that my deck is getting oiled again. One of his apprentices is coming soon, to do the oiling. This is going to give the deck as well as the ramps to the deck a beautiful new shine. 🙂

I hope, I can have guests over onto my deck for my birthday on the 21st of September. On Friday, the 23rd of September, I want to celebrate my birthday with the Knitting Group at the nearby Club. And on Sunday, the 25th of September, some Family might go out with me for lunch and come to my place afterwards for coffee and cake.

I am looking forward to see Caroline and Matthew when they have recovered from their sicknesses. Caroline suffered from COVID rather badly, but did not have to go to hospital. I hope, she is soon in good health again.

As I said, I am grateful for every morning that I wake up in good health. But if something happens to me during the night, like for instance a stroke because of high blood pressure, I do not want to be rescued, for I do not want to become a burden to anyone. I feel at this, my very advanced age, I do not want to be kept alive, I believe, there is really nobody, who would want to look after me for the rest of my life if I do need constant looking after. They all have their own lives to think of. 🙂

After all, I had a very long, interesting life. Now, I think all the time, that death would be very welcome, if for some reason living a healthy life is not possible anymore. 💔

  1. A couple of weeks ago, my son Martin came to visit me. 🙂
He did bring his beautiful dog Millie along! 🙂
They stayed from Friday to Tuesday morning. 🙂
We had a lot of Family for a visit to see Martin and Millie! 🙂
Nearly every day Martin played a game of Scrabble with me! 🙂
It was a pity, that Caroline and Matthew could not come to see Martin.

  2. May your heart run out of its allotted beats at its designated time aunty Uta 🙏… And until then, may each day bring you quiet moments of joy and peace, good health, and beloved visitors!
I have been revisiting some of my older blog posts and feel so happy while reading the comment section and seeing yours and dear Peter’s name and thoughtful responses in them all 😊❤️

  3. My parents’ biggest source of worry, and most heartfelt prayer was that they should be saved from becoming a burden on anyone in older age, that they should be walking and talking when their time came. I’m so glad their prayers were heard, and I hope yours are too ❤️
Amu asked me today how will you know if anything happens to aunty Uta. What should I tell her? 😊
